3 Things to do Before Your Child’s IEP/504 Meeting with Tips:

1

Request a draft prior to the meeting.

Tip- review your child’s progress toward reaching previous IEP goals, report cards, and standardized test scores. If your child is receiving private services compare information you received from your private providers to the school information and prepare to share the information.

2

Prepare a written parent input statement

Tip- this input should state your observation of your child’s strengths and concerns and your ideas of services and accommodations. Please make sure this written statement is included in your child’s IEP/504.

3

Review Final Documents

Tip- review all final documents for accuracy. It is best to do this task immediately for corrections can be made without delay.

Final Tip

Always remember you know your child better than anyone!
